Facts & Questions

Welcome to The Topiary Tree Wedding Flowers Facts & Questions

We want to reassure every couple that they don’t need to have an extensive (or indeed any) knowledge of flowers in order to achieve something that is truly beautiful and bespoke to them.  We get asked lots of questions about wedding flowers and quite rightly so! So, we thought we’d answer some of the regulars with a dedicated Wedding Flowers Facts & Questions page. We hope this helps you in your floral planning process and it’s a fun one!

How far in advance should I book?

As soon as you physically can! Our advice is if you love a supplier and want them to be a part of your wedding,  don’t delay. Many Couples book florists for their wedding up to 12-18 months in advance. We can sometimes accommodate last-minute bookings too though, so please get in touch!

Do you have a price list?

We do not have a price list. After your initial email consultation, we create a detailed bespoke costing email which will itemise each element of your desired wedding day florals.

Wedding flower prices can differ greatly and is dependent on many factors.
For example, the size of your wedding, chosen flowers and the time of year. Dates around Valentine’s Day, Mother's Day and Christmas can all have a dramatic impact on the price of your wedding flowers.

Do you have a minimum spend?

We do, our minimum spend for florals is £1,000 per wedding or event. The reason for our minimum spend is as followed;

  • Our floral design style is defined by using high-end premium flowers. We often use numerous varieties of flowers and foliage in our designs so that they have texture and dimension. This look (as well as most of the favourite wedding flower images on Pinterest) are more expensive to create.
  • Secondly, we specifically order our flowers for a wedding or an event that has been pre-booked in advance. Like most florists, we buy our flowers in large wholesale quantities.

It is also worth noting, the very popular dried boho florals such as Pampas Grass, Bunny Tails, Bleached Flowers etc. are one of the most expensive styles to create. Our hire items are priced individually and have no minimum spend.

Do I need to have a budget in mind?

Ideally, yes!
There is nothing more disheartening to a couple, than receiving quotes from wedding suppliers, that are completely out of your budget. Being open and honest about your budget from the start, will mean that we can tailor your initial quote.
It also allows us to be honest with you... If we know your budget won't stretch to allow for a certain floral arrangement that you have in mind, we can make suggestions and come up with some possible options or alternative ideas that will save you from spending more than you're comfortable with.

How do I book my initial consultation?

If you are considering The Topiary Tree for your wedding flowers and would like a quote, you need to complete the 'We are Getting Married!' on our Contact Us page on our website. We will then check we have your wedding date available and talk you through the next steps for your initial private consultation.

What does the initial consultation entail?

Typically, the initial private consultation will last around an hour. We will begin with looking over any images, plans and ideas you have seen and love.

If you have any preferred flowers, colours schemes or flower vibes in mind, this is a perfect time to share them and is something that you can email to us, share via Pinterest or show is in person,
We will also discuss the size of your wedding, your budget and what type of floral arrangements you would like to include.
We will then email you your styling brief and costings; and provide details to confirm your booking, including Terms & Conditions.

How do I secure my wedding date?

A non refundable booking fee of £250 is required to secure your wedding date with The Topiary Tree Florist. This booking fee will be deducted from your final invoice balance.

Payment of booking fee is an acknowledgement of Terms and Conditions.

For payment options, check out ‘How can we pay?’ further down our Wedding Flowers Facts & Questions page.

What happens at final consultation?

A little over a month before your wedding day (6-8 weeks) we will have a detailed private meeting in person, via email or over the phone, to chat through all of your final floral styling requirements, as well as discussing timing and logistics. This is your opportunity to make any last-minute changes no matter how big or small.

We usually schedule an hour or so for this first appointment and recommend inviting someone to join you in this experience. We think two people is the perfect number… otherwise, it can get confusing!

We will then send a fully itemised invoice email which will allow you to check everything off.

Will my final invoice balance differ from my initial quote?

Yes, your initial quote is an estimate, based on your specifications and daily flower auction prices on the day of your initial consultation.
Flowers are brought at daily auctions and therefore have a different market cost each day. Your final invoice will be based on the cost of the flowers, on the day that we create the final invoice.

Additionally, if you've added or removed items at your final consultation, this will alter the price.
Also consider that an additional delivery address or an increase in workload to achieve any additional floral arrangements, may require a further increase your final invoice balance.

When do I need to pay my final balance?

The final balance must be paid in full (minus £250 booking fee) no less than 4 weeks before your wedding date.

For payment options, check out ‘How can we pay?’ further down our Wedding Flowers Facts & Questions page.

Do you charge for delivery?

Yes, a delivery charge is applied to cover fuel costs. Delivery cost will be calculated and added to your costings.

What time will my wedding flowers be delivered?

Wedding flowers are usually delivered about 2-3 hours before your ceremony. However, we can be flexible, and the timings and logistics will be something we will discuss at the final consultation appointment.

Do you charge for the hire of vases, props etc?

All hired items are subject to a hire fee.
Any items that are damaged or missing on collection/drop off will be charges at the current wholesale purchase price.

Can we keep the flowers after the wedding?

Yes, all flowers and foliage are owned by you.

Only hired items, such as, vases or props etc. will need to be returned.
